I'm a wimp!

I skipped my run this morning, not intentionally; I was going to run, I promise. I usually run Thursdays at 7:00, because I don't have class until 10 or so. Anyways, I slept through my alarm, and next thing I know my roommate's is waking me at 9:00. I was only going 5k, so I was thinking of tacking that distance onto my Friday run, or my long run.

See, I pulled an all nighter the day before/ morning of. I mean, that's no problem, I've ran, done the all nighter thing, than ran again. It was ugly, but I can bring myself to do it, but not this time. I did it five or so times last semester so I was semi used to it, but this was my first time this semester and I just couldn't hold it togother.

Kiss Me Thru the Phone- Soulja Boy

I hate this song. Honestly, why is this considered good music? I mean, how far have we fallen as a race for this to be popular? You people disgust me...

Dear Burger, welcome to the 20th century

Yesterday I went to Target and bought myself a watch. Not a HRM watch, or a GPS watch, just a regular, lame watch. I was pacing myself by looking at my dorm room clock when I go out, and then checking the clock when I come back in, which is why my times are ten minutes or so off my last two times. But whatever, if an accurate pace is only worth $40, I'm game, even though thats pretty expensive.

What an ugly day to run

When I started my lunchtime run, it was drizzling a little, but I decided on wearing a T- shirt and shorts, which turned out to be a good idea. About 5k in, the rain stopped, and it got really really humid.

Anyway, on my run, I saw four people running. One, two, three, four. Its funny, when its a nice day, in the 70's and 80's, there is like a thousand "runners" out there and I've even had to switch routes because of so many people out. But, when its crummy outside-- five people, including me.

Anyway, I went 5.2 again, at a 7:52 pace. My knee's been hurting me lately (as in it started hurting today), and my right lower calf just above the ankle has been hurting for about a month now, but once I hit my pace those don't hurt as much.

But tomorrow I'm slated to run only 5k, which means not really hitting my pace. That translates into a lot of pain, so I'm hesitant about going short tomorrow for that reason.

I didn't know I could go that fast... but I still got smoked by some old guy

Well, I was having a terrible day up until about 6:28. You don't want to hear about that though, you want to hear about what happens after 6:28 Central Whatever Time. (CST? what does that mean? hooray for College...) Anyways, I went out for a 5.2 miler by the river. I honestly surprised the crap outa myself. At the turnaround point (the Ford Bridge) I looked at my watch and thought it was broken.

I ran 6:52's. It gets better though. This old guy, he said he was 72, was running with me on the way back. We looked at each other, and we knew it was on. It was like

Lock eyes from across the room down my drink while the rhythms boom...

Or something like that. There's something in a runner where he can look at the guy next to him, and with a slight nod of his head, kick the hell out of the last 4k or so. I've done it, but this was the first time its happened to me-- by a guy 54 years older. I had to laugh.

Monday cross training

Its Tuesday. I had to post this today because I was helping a friend study for his Spanish test. Anyways, Monday's a cross training day-- Monday's always a cross training day because I don't have time to run; I work too much. So, I hit the pool when open swim started at 7:30pm. Here's my workout:
7:30- 8:30
4x 100 freestyle set
4x 100 kick set
2x 100 butterfly set

4/19- 4/25: Weekly milage totals

Only 15.3 miles??

I skipped my long run on Sunday (why did I do that? I'm a terrible human being)

Monday's an off day; I just don't have time to run

Tuesday I ran with the TC running club. They put me with the 7:00 mile group. I really can't go that fast for that long (yep, that's what she said.) 5.2 miles, 7:18 pace

Wednesday I skipped; I was ridiculously sore

Thursday I went short, and my calf wasn't too happy with me. 4.1 miles, 7:33 pace

Friday was hot. I ran shirtless, but was still sweating like a pig. 6 miles, 8:38 pace

Saturday's an off day

Cold, Rany 12 miles

Well, it took some motivation to get out there, 12 miles in the pouring rain. Okay, not pouring, but it might as well be. I got up yesterday morning thinking "Really? it was just 80 some degrees during the week." I woke up, looked out the window, and was like "screw it, I'll do it later." I never do that. At noon or so, I figured that I might as well go then.

It was 40- something when I started, but didn't feel like it. It was 50 almost exactly when I finished, and even if the rain subsided a bit, that didn't help at all. The sidewalk by UST has some huge potholes in it, which were filled with water. Lovely way to start the run.

So, my route. I went down on Cretan, to Grand Ave, way down Grand to the Running Room, where I bought some of that Cliff Shot gels with the soggy $2 I kept in my shoe. From there, I turned around and ran to the intersection of Cleveland and Grand. From there, I went down to Ford Parkway, and back up to Summit on Mississippi River Blvd.

12 miles, my second longest run ever, at a 9:40 or so pace. I usually run 8:30's but considering the rain, wind, and distance, I was going for 9:30's, but close enough.
